Public Housing

Renters living in Public Housing units pay about 30% of their income for the rent.

Public Housing is operated by local housing authorities. Each housing authority manages their own wait list.

Public Housing wait lists are often closed, and feature long wait times. It is common to wait 1+ years on a list.

With Public Housing, the subsidy usually stays with the building. When a renter moves out they no longer have the rental assistance.
